Job summary

Meritus Health seeks a Certified Athletic Trainer to serve Washington County Public Schools. This role provides hands-on care, rehabilitation, and athletic training services directly with student-athletes under supervision of physicians and athletic trainers.

Qualifications include CAATE-accredited degree, BOC certification, Maryland licensure or eligibility, and BLS certification. The position is seasonal and not benefits-eligible; experience of 1–2 years preferred, though new graduates are

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services for athletes in Washington County Public Schools.
• Review medical conditions with medical team and develop plans to meet athlete goals including prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, immediate care, rehab, and reconditioning; organization and administration; professional responsibility.
• Maintain accurate injury records and write reports following company documentation protocols.
• Communicate with internal and external partners about injured athletes and inform of Meritus services and locations for continuum of care.
• Work in a fast-paced, hands-on sports environment with daily new challenges.

What You’ll Do:

Under the supervision of the Team Physician and Meritus" Supervisor of Athletic Trainers, you will:

• Provide athletic training services for athletes in Washington County Public Schools.
• Work alongside medical professionals, team personnel and athletes to review medical conditions of athletes and develop plans to meet athlete goals. This includes prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning; organization and administration; and professional responsibility.
• Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining accurate records of injuries and writing reports on injuries and treatment programs following company documentation protocols.
• Maintain communications with internal and external partners regarding the progress of the injured athlete as well as informing of Meritus services and locations for continuum of care.
• Work in a fast-paced, hands-on sports environment where every day brings a new challenge.

What You’ll Need:

• Education: Bachelor’s or master's degree graduate from an accredited CAATE program.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred, but new graduates with BOC certification are welcome to apply!
• Licensure/Certification:
  • NATA BOC certified and licensed (or license-eligible) in Maryland.
  • BLS (CPR) certification per Meritus policy.

This seasonal position is not benefits-eligible.
