Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, is seeking a full-time, 10-month Athletic Trainer to support 24 varsity programs and four competitive club teams. Reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine, the role provides injury prevention, clinical evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and return-to-play coordination in a collaborative, athlete-centered environment.

The Sports Medicine program operates with MaineGeneral physicians, weekly on-site therapy, and access to sports

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training is required.
• NATABOC certification is required.
• Eligible for Maine Athletic Trainer licensure.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations of the Sports Medicine Program.
• Provide on-field and clinical coverage for athletic events.
• Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation programs.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and reporting.
• Collaborate with coaches, athletes, and medical staff.
• Contribute to injury prevention and staff education initiatives.

Position Overview

Thomas College invites applications for a full-time, 10-month Athletic Trainer to support 24 varsity athletic programs and fourcompetitive club teams. Reporting to the Director of SportsMedicine, this position provides comprehensive athletic trainingservices including injury prevention, clinical evaluation,treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and return-to-playcoordination. The role is part of a professional, athlete-centeredenvironment that emphasizes high clinical standards, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable work–lifebalance.

Sports Medicine Model

The Sports Medicine program operates within an integrated healthcare framework that includes direct collaboration with MaineGeneral Sports Medicine physicians, regular interaction with sportsmedicine fellows, on-site physical therapy in the Athletic Trainingroom weekly, and established access to sports nutrition services. This structure supports coordinated medical care, shared casemanagement, and opportunities for ongoing professionaldevelopment.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include assisting with daily operations of the Sports Medicine Program; providing on-field and clinical coverage; developing and implementing individualized rehabilitation programs; maintaining accurate medical documentation; communicating effectively with coaches, athletes, and medical providers; and contributing to departmental initiatives in injury prevention, education, and program development.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training; possess NATABOC certification; be eligible for Maine AthleticTrainer licensure; and maintain a valid driver’s license. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment and must pass a criminal background check.
