Job summary

University of Houston Athletics seeks a grounds and facilities teammate to support daily maintenance of all athletic fields and grounds. You will assist with event prep and conversion of fields for intercollegiate events and special occasions, coordinating custodial and grounds services with service providers.

You will also help manage intramural and special events, act as a liaison for athletics facilities, and partner with leadership to execute event plans while promoting UH as a positive

Qualifications

• Specialized training in basic trades, principles, procedures, practice, or routines in a specific area beyond high school (up to 18 months).
• Vocational competence in operating mechanical or electronic equipment may be required.
• Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience and experience in lieu of education.

Department: Athletics Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education
Description
Reports to Grounds management unit leader. Support the performance of Athletic Department controlled grass and synthetic fields and oversight of general Athletic grounds while also assisting with Athletics Department facilities and events management.

• Provides daily support to maintenance of all athletic fields and grounds
• Supports the conversion, preparedness, and protection of assigned athletic fields related to intercollegiate athletic and special events.
• Supervises and executes the conversion, preparedness, and protection of intramural fields and special events.
• Serves as facility liaison for assigned Athletics facilities. On a daily basis, engages and holds accountable service providers to ensure proper custodial and maintenance for assigned athletics facilities/grounds. Coordinates schedule of use, building security, oversight of building systems and performance of maintenance, custodial and grounds services.
• Alongside unit leadership, develops and executes event management plans for all events hosted in assigned Athletics facilities.
• In all settings and in all situations, serves as a positive Ambassador for UH Athletics and UH in general. Effuse positivity and grow affinity for all things UH.
• Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned
  

MQ: Education: Requires specialized training in basic trades, principles, procedures, practice, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level. Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment may be required. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification: Requires a valid Texas Driver's License.
