Job summary

Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is seeking a Field Maintenance Assistant to support New Century Fieldhouse Sports Complex. This role offers 12-18 hours per week, supervising part-time staff and ensuring safe, high-quality field prep including mowing, painting, and irrigation tasks.

You will operate mowers, tractors, golf carts, and hand tools, coordinate with vendors, and monitor weather to maintain playability. Requires HS diploma and valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of sports field or lawn care maintenance and/or facility maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proven ability to lead staff to accountability and satisfaction.
• Motivated to achieve at a high level and as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Maintain athletic fields and grounds.
• Lead, train, and supervise part-time staff.
• Operate and maintain equipment (mowers, tractors, carts).
• Complete field painting, chalking, mowing, fertilizing, and landscaping.
• Assist with irrigation repairs and general facility maintenance.
• Monitor weather to determine field playability and safety.
