Job summary

Kansas Athletics is seeking a highly reliable Grounds Maintenance Technician to ensure the daily upkeep and safety of fields, grounds, and facilities. The role supports practice and event setups and assists with cleanup while coordinating with the Grounds Supervisor.

Responsibilities include routine inspections, equipment operation, and basic repairs, with a requirement for a flexible schedule to cover early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year in groundskeeping or related field.
• Ability to operate grounds equipment and machinery.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet University requirements for operating vehicles.
• Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily grounds maintenance at facilities, including mowing, edging, trimming, seeding, fertilizing, weed control, landscaping, leaf removal, debris removal, and snow and ice removal.
• Assist with routine turf and landscape preparation and maintenance to support safe, functional, and presentable practice and competition areas.
• Perform daily quality inspections of stands, concourses, restrooms, operations spaces, and exterior areas; identify maintenance, cleanliness, or safety concerns and communicate needed corrective action to the Grounds Supervisor.
• Monitor grounds and maintenance supplies and notify the Grounds Supervisor of replenishment or operational needs.
• Assist with setup, conversion, and teardown for practices, competitions, special events, and approved outside-sponsored events.
