Job summary

City of Ocala is seeking a Groundskeeper to perform manual labor and operate a range of maintenance equipment for athletic fields and a large wetland park. You will handle field preparation, mowing, trimming, and basic vehicle upkeep while supporting events and daily operations.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid Florida Driver's License, with about a year of related experience preferred. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable, hands-on field work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Twelve months related experience or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operators Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Daily maintenance of athletic turf and infield clay for various fields; operate equipment such as chalk liners, line painters, drags, mowers, and small tractors.
• Prepare field layouts and maintain fields for scheduled events (football, baseball, softball, soccer).
• Oversee maintenance of a 60-acre wetland park, including grass, berms, pathways, and parking areas; operate related equipment.
