Job summary

William & Mary’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks an Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development to design, implement, and evaluate programs fostering growth, leadership, and career prep for student-athletes. You’ll partner across campus with orientation, career services, and SAAC while guiding a comprehensive development curriculum.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree, 3–8 years in related roles, strong communication, and inclusive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrated success with public speaking.
• Transferrable leadership skills for successfully leading and guiding student-athletes.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work with a diverse population and a wide range of constituencies.
• Experience (typically 3-8 years) directly related to the position either working with student-athletes specifically, or in a comparable position in the field of student affairs, higher education, counseling, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a W&M Student-Athlete Development Program: design, implement and evaluate the program to enhance student-athlete experience and success.
• Community and Career Engagement/Support: coordinate with Cohen Career Center for interviewing and networking, resume writing, internships, and job search; engage alumni and student outreach.
• Educational Coordination/Support: coordinate educational programming relative to student-athlete experience and NCAA educational requirements; assist in on-campus recruiting.
• Other: Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
