Reports To: Building Principal
General Summary
Directs the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programming related to Junior High or High School activities and athletics and its accompanying routines for the school district under the direction of the building principal while consistently adhering to the standards of the MSHSAA and the Sikeston R-6 School District and contributing to the educational programs for all students in accordance with district policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- In conjunction with coaches, schedule all interscholastic athletic contests for grades 7-12.
- Hire officials for all home athletic contests; verify officials on game day.
- Athletic payroll. Schedule staff workers
- Coordinate all drama, musical, athletic and school organization activities to establish contest and concert dates and gym availability.
- Coordinate/schedule all gym use.
- Work as the school’s official representative for athletics at all local, conference, district, and state events.
- Liaison to the Sikeston Booster Club
- Event set-ups and rental agreement.
- Supervise and evaluate all coaches, sponsors, and other staff members as assigned. Evaluate Coaching staff--Ensuring effective evaluation of each sport and the athletics department. Review evaluation status and progress of coaching, sponsors, and assigned staff members.
- Advertise athletic staff vacancies; receive applications; oversee the screening process; schedule interviews; make recommendations for filling vacancies.
- Director of Clubs/ Activities
- Assume responsibility for preparing the activity budget as delegated by the building principal. Review and approve purchase orders for equipment and supplies for athletic activities. Fundraise for the athletic department as necessary. Develop and maintain athletic budget
- Maintain current inventories for each sport.
- Determine student eligibility in regard to MSHSAA and Sikeston Public Schools Standards.
- Assume responsibility for contract relations for all interscholastic contests.
- Transportation arrangements.
- Coordinate all summer camps.
- Fulfill any other duties that may be assigned dealing with the athletic/activities programs.
- Ensure Board policies, rules and regulations, as well as the directives of the Superintendent, and the guidelines of the program are observed.
- Work as liaison between all athletic and student activity staff and administration.
- Perform other duties assigned by the principal or superintendent.
- Communicate to student athletes and parents regarding NCAA and NAIA eligibility, MSHSAA rules, athletics communication regarding concerns and academics. Ensuring coaches conduct yearly parent meetings for each sport. Oversee athletic scholarships. NCAA and NAIA clearinghouse monitoring and support with high school counselors. Continue to promote the athletic department and student athletics through social media, district website and other means.

Qualifications
- Education Level - MMaster’s Degree from an approved institution with a major in educational administration or the accepted equivalent required.
- Experience desired - At least five years successful teaching experience preferably in a secondary school. Prior administrative experience is preferred but not required.
- Certification or Licensure - Valid Missouri Administration certificate
- Other requirements –Must successfully pass a background check and drug test that are satisfactory to the Board of Education. Strong leadership and planning skills in the area of administration, management and evaluation. Sensitivity to the needs and objectives of the school and the school district.
