Town of Huntersville seeks an Athletic Assistant I or II to support planning, organizing, and supervision of diverse athletic programs. The role involves assisting with daily recreation center operations, safety checks, and program budgeting.
Candidates may also help with marketing, staffing, and vendor documentation, with some evening and weekend hours. A valid NC driver’s license and first aid/CPR/AED certifications within 12 months are required.
The Parks and Recreation Department has a full-time opening for an Athletic Assistant I or II. Applicants will be considered for I or II based on Level Minimum Qualifications listed below. Performs paraprofessional work assisting with planning, organizing, supervising athletic programs, assists with daily operations of the recreation center including maintenance tasks. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Recreation Facility Manager or Athletic Manager. Assist with supervision exercised over part-time personnel. Assist in creating and maintaining budget sheets for current and new programming along with the marketing of programs. Work includes weeknight and weekend hours.
General knowledge of the principles and practices of professional recreation or athletic program work; some knowledge of ball field maintenance techniques and practices; ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with the public and program participants; ability to schedule and coordinate athletic programs; ability to provide working leadership to a group of program participants; skill in the use of instruments, tools or other equipment used in recreation facility and field maintenance activities; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates, activity participants and the general public.
This position’s physical requirements involve medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities may be required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and/or walking.
The work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. Recreation Center front desk, light traffic, programs in facility). This position requires occasional or frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
