Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a part-time athletic coach to assist the head coach in delivering a safe and engaging athletic program for students. This role emphasizes discipline, sportsmanship, and skill development across practices and contests.

Responsibilities include supervising student athletes, supporting daily practice routines, and maintaining equipment and records. Must have high school diploma and relevant coaching experience, plus First Aid/CPR/AED certifications as required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent; must be at least 19 years old per WIAA regulation.
• Ability to motivate student athletes and maintain poise during practice and games.
• Knowledge of building, district and WIAA policies and guidelines; ability to follow the Coaches’ Handbook.

Responsibilities

• Supervises student athletes to promote learning through athletic participation.
• Assist head coach in preparing athletes physically and mentally; ensure safety and discipline.
• Oversee practice sessions, teach fundamentals, promote sportsmanship, and ensure compliance with rules.
