Job summary

Mountainite seeks an Assistant Traffic Ops Engineer to join the Traffic Ops Department in Idaho. The role is full-time and exempt with a starting wage of $37.40 - $45.40 per hour DOQ.

Primary duties include planning and adjusting signal timing, addressing signal operations issues, and assisting in TMC operations for occasional weekend or evening events. An EIT within one year and PE eligibility are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • EIT certification within 1 year required (or equivalent).
  • PE in Idaho or ability to obtain within 1 year required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement traffic flow and safety improvements, including signal timing and coordination.
  • Investigate and resolve traffic signal operations issues and communicate with citizens.
  • Assist in operating the Traffic Management Center and support weekend/evening events.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) within 1 year
PE eligibility or PE in Idaho within 1 year

Job description

Applications are now being accepted for an Assistant Traffic Ops Engineer in the Traffic Ops Department. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting wage of $37.40 - $45.40 per hour DOQ.

Primary Duties:
  • Under the supervision of the Congestion Management Supervisor, the Assistant Traffic Operations Engineer / Traffic Operations Engineer plans, organizes and implements traffic flow and safety improvements, including signal timing and coordination; makes adjustments to signal timing for construction, special events and incidents that result in detours and/or lane closures.
  • Investigates and resolves traffic signal operations-related problems and complaints; communicates with individual citizens via phone and in writing regarding the operation of traffic signals.
  • This position will require assisting in the operation of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) and supporting the occasional special event on weekends or evenings
Qualifications:
  • Assistant Traffic Ops Engineer: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering or related Engineering field is required. Possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) within one year is also required. OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience may be acceptable.
  • Traffic Ops Engineer: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering field is required. Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Idaho or able to obtain PE within one year. Or, an extensive combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience may be acceptable.
