Job summary

Ada County Highway District in Boise, Idaho seeks an Assistant Traffic Operations Engineer in the Traffic Ops Department. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting wage of $37.40 - $45.40 per hour DOQ.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering or related engineering field is required.
• EIT certification within one year is required.
• PE registration in Idaho (or ability to obtain within one year) is required or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and implement traffic flow and safety improvements, including signal timing and coordination; adjust timing for construction, events and incidents causing detours or lane closures.
• Investigate and resolve traffic signal operations problems and respond to inquiries from citizens in writing or by phone.
• Assist in operating the Traffic Management Center (TMC) and support weekend or evening events.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering or related Engineering field

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) within 1 year

Professional Engineer (PE) eligibility in Idaho within 1 year

Assistant Traffic Operations Engineer

Assistant Traffic Ops Engineer in the Traffic Ops Department. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting wage of $37.40 - $45.40 per hour DOQ.

Primary Duties:

• Under the supervision of the Congestion Management Supervisor, the Assistant Traffic Operations Engineer / Traffic Operations Engineer plans, organizes and implements traffic flow and safety improvements, including signal timing and coordination; makes adjustments to signal timing for construction, special events and incidents that result in detours and/or lane closures.
• Investigates and resolves traffic signal operations-related problems and complaints; communicates with individual citizens via phone and in writing regarding the operation of traffic signals.
• This position will require assisting in the operation of the Traffic Management Center (TMC) and supporting the occasional special event on weekends or evenings

Qualifications:

• Assistant Traffic Ops Engineer: A Bachelors degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering or related Engineering field is required. Possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) within one year is also required. OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience may be acceptable.
• Traffic Ops Engineer: A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering field is required. Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Idaho or able to obtain PE within one year.
• Or an extensive combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience may be acceptable.
