Job summary

The University of South Carolina Aiken, an NCAA Division II Institution, is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach. Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II program.

The successful candidate will recruit student-athletes who have the ability to succeed academically and athletically, while promoting, developing, and maintaining positive relationships with the faculty, staff, students, and community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3+ years of experience.
• Preferred Master’s degree and three years of collegiate coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with training, teaching and instruction of a NCAA DII level program, including practice and play schedules.
• Assist in implementing a successful recruiting program to attract outstanding student‑athletes, including off‑campus evaluations and contacts, phone calls, email communications, etc.
• Conduct all aspects of the program within NCAA, Peach Belt Conference, and University policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of eligibility and recruiting requirements for NCAA, PBC and USCA admissions standards.
• Assist with administrative functions including team travel, equipment purchases, and budget monitoring.
• Contribute to community relations, fundraising, and the department’s mission and goals.

Assistant Softball Coach, USCA Athletics

The University of South Carolina Aiken, an NCAA Division II Institution, is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach. Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II program. The successful candidate will recruit student-athletes who have the ability to succeed academically and athletically, while promoting, developing, and maintaining positive relationships with the faculty, staff, students, and community. In addition, the Assistant Coach will assist in fundraising, organizing and running team practices, weight training, and conditioning sessions, and will coordinate study halls and other academic support areas for the student-athletes along with other duties as assigned by the head coach. The duties will be done in strict compliance with USC Aiken, Peach Belt Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred: Master’s degree and three years of collegiate coaching experience preferred.

Contract: 12.0 month full‑time position.

Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience.

• Job Duty: Knowledge and understanding of all eligibility and recruiting requirements for NCAA , PBC and USCA admissions standards.


• Job Duty: Assist with administrative functions, including but not limited to team travel arrangements (transportation, hotels, meals); equipment and uniform purchases and monitoring budgets related to recruiting costs and travel.


• Job Duty: Community relations, fund‑raising, support of the department’s mission, vision and goals; other duties as assigned by Head Coach.
