Job summary

NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC seeks an entry-level Instrumentation & Control Associate to assist with installation, calibration and repair of station instruments and control systems. You will work under direct supervision, participate in I&C training, and perform routine preventive maintenance, reading schematics and diagrams as needed.

The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and participation in non-routine outages and major projects while supporting the Seabrook Station operations.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a technical field or related field or equivalent education and/or experience. Must successfully complete
  • Must successfully complete progression/promotional/training examinations
  • Zero to one year of related instrumentation and control experience. (Reference ANSI/ANS 3.1-1993)
  • Successful completion of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Power Plant Maintenance Positions Selection System (MASS) aptitude test required

Position Specific Description

Assists in performing installations, calibrations, inspections, repairs and maintenance on Station instruments and control systems including components, systems test and laboratory equipment, as necessary to ensure the safe, efficient and dependable operation of Seabrook Station. Performs assigned duties, under direct supervision.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assists in the performance of the daily activities of the Instrumentation and Control Department, as assigned, including the installation, inspection, calibration, adjustment, maintenance and repair of the plant instrumentation and controls, components, systems and test and laboratory equipment.
  2. Participates in and successfully completes plant and Instrumentation and Control Department training programs; continues participation in training programs to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  3. Reads and interprets schematics, drawings, loops and logic diagrams; performs routine preventative maintenance including bench and in-loop calibrations using such documents.
  4. Performs assigned duties in accordance with approved plant procedures, accepted radiation protection practices, regulatory policies, the Quality Assurance Program, and safety rules and regulations.
  5. Prepares reports, procedures, logs and other historical data to document instrument calibration and work activities.
  6. Participates in non-routine activities such as unscheduled outages, refueling and special projects that require the participation of the Instrumentation and Control Department.
  7. Recommends changes to existing instrumentation and control methods, procedures, and applications to improve overall Station operation.
  8. Assists in detailed and/or special testing of complex systems, components and test equipment.
  9. Provides recommendations regarding necessary changes to the instrumentation and control spare parts inventory.
  10. Recommends the termination of any Instrumentation and Control activity which is not being carried out in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, regulations, requirements, or accepted practices.
  11. Recommends the termination of any plant activity which jeopardizes personnel safety, plant equipment, or continued power generation.
  12. May be required to participate in radiological emergency activities as needed.
  13. Participates as assigned in developing and providing training including OJT/TPE.
  14. Required to be a member of the Seabrook Station Emergency Response Organization (ERO), when assigned, and to adhere to all related requirements specified in the Seabrook Station Radiological Emergency Plan. These requirements include, but are not limited to, maintaining applicable ERO position qualifications, participation in drills and exercises, and responding to an actual emergency (including radiological).
  15. Required to participate in major outages, when assigned, by performing a designated outage position, and maintaining required training qualifications. An outage assignment may involve shiftwork and/or working extended hours outside of normal schedule.
  16. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
