Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Position Summary – Manages an 18‑hole golf course, greens, and surrounding 200 acres. Responsible for building maintenance, environmental compliance, event organization, budget, and supervision of 5–8 full‑time staff and 10–20 part‑time student employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee turfgrass management and irrigation operations, including maintenance of >1,000 irrigation heads and two pump stations.
• Supervise crew, schedule work, monitor timecards, conduct performance evaluations.
• Train and mentor new employees.
• Coordinate chemical handling, pesticide application, and integrated pest management.
• Maintain and repair maintenance facilities, equipment, and storage tanks.
• Plan and execute golf course improvement projects, preparing cost/justification reports.
• Ensure compliance with UGA environmental and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records, budgets, and reporting as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in bentgrass greens management, crew supervision, aerification, and knowledge of golf course equipment and chemical application.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of UGA Golf Course Best Management Practices Guidelines.
• Proficiency with irrigation software.
• Class A, B, or C underground storage tank operator certification.

Physical Demands

• Heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and work in adverse weather.
• Driving required as part of duties.
