Job summary

Private Investment Firm in NYC is seeking a Finance Manager/Assistant Controller to oversee capital calls, reporting and accounting for a Real Estate/Private Equity Fund. You will lead a small team, manage the close process, and ensure accurate NAV and investor reporting.

The role requires 5+ years in fund accounting or audit, CPA, and SEC reporting familiarity. Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel are essential for this hands-on leadership position.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in accounting function in fund accounting or audit roles.
• Exposure to real estate private equity and real estate debt structures.
• BS in Accounting and CPA; Big 4 experience preferred.
• Understanding of SEC reporting requirements (10-K, 10-Q) and experience with public companies.
• Knowledge of structuring and launching new asset classes/vehicles.
• Assist in risk management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff with capital calls, waterfall distributions, quarterly and annual financials and related workpapers.
• Manage close process and financial reporting for Real Estate/PE Fund.
• Prepare expense and accrual analyses for timely quarterly reporting.
• Responsible for financial reporting process including NAV, allocations, waterfalls and fund returns.
• Generate quarterly investor capital statements and ensure reporting accuracy.
• Develop and lead annual budget and forecast process.
• Maintain fund expense budgets and allocations; coordinate with fund administrator.
• Perform drawdowns, interest expense and repo repayments; cash reconciliations.
• Assist in cash management forecasts and debt facility oversight.
• Collaborate with CFO/Controller on firm reporting and intercompany reconciliation.
• Oversight and compliance of fund credit facilities by interpreting agreements.

Our client is a Private Investment Firm based in NYC currently seeking to add a talented Finance Manager/Asst Controller to their growing Accounting and Finance Team, this position will straddle the following responsibilities; Tax, Reporting, Accounting and Financial Operations, reporting directly to CFO.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff with direct reports providing capital calls, waterfall distributions, quarterly and annual financials statements with related workpapers, and other ad-hoc projects
• Manage and oversee close process and financial reporting for Real Estate/PE Fund
• Prepare expense and accrual analyses for timely and accurate quarterly reporting
• Responsible for financial reporting process, including but not limited to monthly performance estimates, close packages/NAV, allocations, waterfalls and fund returns
• Generate quarterly investor capital statements and ensure reporting accuracy
• Develop and lead annual budget and forecast process
• Maintain fund expense budgets and allocations, tracking expenses and coordinating updates with fund administrator
• Perform drawdowns, interest expense and repo repayments financial statement preparation and cash reconciliations
• Assist in cash management forecasts and budgets along with debt facility oversight to establish capital available for investment.
• Collaborate with CFO/Controller on preparation of firm reporting and intracompany reconciliation process
• Oversight and compliance of fund credit facilities by accurately comprehending and interpreting the agreement, while maintaining a thorough knowledge of the assets in the portfolio

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting function in fund accounting and/or auditor roles
• Exposure to both real estate private equity and real estate debt structures
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and CPA
• Prior or current Big 4 experience highly preferred
• Understanding of SEC reporting requirements (e.g. 10K & 10Q) and experience working with publicly listed or registered companies
• Knowledge of structuring and launch of new asset classes/vehicles.
• Assist in risk management
• Team player with excellent relationship building skills
• Experience with finance company accounting and private credit funds
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a changing environment with a high level of flexibility
