Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) seeks pediatric physicians to diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric conditions with potential subspecialty focus. Rank may be Assistant/Associate/Full Professor with salary depending on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities include both inpatient and outpatient care, resident and medical student education, and mentorship. Board eligibility in Pediatrics is required or in process; USMLE Step 3 must be completed.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or MBBS degree required.
• Completion of Pediatric Residency or Fellowship ongoing or completed.
• Board eligible, or on the path to board eligibility in Pediatrics.
• Must have USMLE Step 3 completed.

• Provide care for children from newborn to adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Interview, examine, and treat patients to deliver medical care.
• Educate patients on wellness, prevention and early detection with materials for families.
• Determine urgency of follow-up, referrals and consultations.
• Precept residents and medical students in inpatient and outpatient care.
• Mentor and teach residents and medical students.

Position Description

We are looking for physicians to diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric conditions with the potential to specialize in a subspecialty area such as behavioral, cardiology, critical care, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hospitalist, infectious disease or nephrology.

Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Major/Essential Functions

• Provide care for children from newborn to adolescents in an inpatient and outpatient setting;
• Provides medical care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients;
• Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families;
• Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments;
• Precept residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient care; and
• Mentor and teach residents and medical students.

Occasional Duties

• Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the institution and partnering hospitals.

Required Qualifications

• MD/DO or MBBS
• Completion of, or in the process of completing, Pediatric Residency or Fellowship;
• Board Eligible, or in the process of becoming board eligible, in Pediatrics; and
• Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Electronic Medical Records; and
• Commitment to continuous learning.
