Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking an OB/Gyn physician to join the Permian Basin department, serving Odessa and Midland campuses. The role involves inpatient obstetric care, labor and delivery and a strong emphasis on teaching medical students and residents.

Qualified candidates will have MD/DO, completion of ACGME OB/Gyn residency, Texas medical license, and ECFMG certification if applicable. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of, or in progress, an ACGME-accredited OB/Gyn residency.
• Ability to obtain Texas medical license.
• For foreign graduates: ECFMG Certification or OREquivalency.

Responsabilités

• Evaluate and treat patients in OB triage and the emergency department.

Position Description

Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on thecampus of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) atthe Permian Basin. With our primary practice site and academicoffices in Odessa, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology hasbeen an integral part of this institution since the inception ofthis campus. We have a strong, long-standing relationship with ourcommunity hospital partners.

In 2010 our practice expanded to Midland, with an outpatientfacility adjacent to Midland Memorial Hospital. This created atremendous opportunity to expand our health care services withinthe Permian Basin and expanded our capabilities for high qualitymedical student education as well. All of our general residentclinics are based on the "continuity of care" model as we strivefor personalized, cost-effective, high-quality patient care. Wehave several specialty care clinics for our patients, including aHigh-Risk Pregnancy clinic, a Colposcopy clinic and a Urogynecologyclinic.

Within our department, we provide expert ultrasound services, bonedensity testing, and have a modern urodynamic testing laboratory.Each year we provide healthcare services with more than 26,000outpatient visits; in the region we deliver more than 3,500 babiesand perform 700 major gynecologic surgical procedures per year. Ourresidency program received a 4-year accreditation status with 4residents per level. Both our Odessa and Midland locations utilizean EMR system that provides access to both inpatient and outpatientmedical records.

Major/Essential Functions

• Work a shift based schedule providing inpatient care;
• Manage patients admitted to the labor and delivery unit;
• Evaluate and treat patients in OB triage and the emergencydepartment;
• Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries;
• Respond to acute obstetrics emergencies and emergency surgicalprocedures;
• Manage postpartum floor care and complication;
• Participate in quality improvement, continuing education andpatient care programs established by the hospital(s); and
• Participate in the education and training of medical studentsand residents.

Required Qualifications

• MD/DO or Equivalent;
• Completion of, or in the process of completing, an accreditedACGME OB/Gyn Residency;
• Ability to obtain a Texas License; and
• Foreign Medical Graduates Only: ECFMG Certification OREquivalency Certification.
