Under licensed Anesthesia providers, the Anesthesia Technician Assistant assists in the physiological monitoring of patients and the preparation of drugs, fluids, anesthesia, and equipment ancillary to operative intervention or procedures requiring anesthesia setup. Also, operate and maintain patient care monitors and anesthesia equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 6 months of healthcare experience required. Basic knowledge of anesthesia gas machine.

Responsibilities

  • Engages in population-appropriate communication.
  • Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/families regarding treatment.
  • Involves family/guardians in assessment, initial treatment, and ongoing care.
  • Identifies physical limitations and deploys interventions when necessary.
  • Recognizes and responds to behavioral health problems.
  • Interprets population-related data and plans care accordingly.
  • Identifies and responds to psychological or cultural needs.
  • Performs treatments, administers medication, or operates equipment safely.
  • Recognizes and responds to signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Assists in clinical settings such as OR, OB, Radiology, PACU, ICU, Cath Lab, ER, Endoscopy, Dental, ambulatory surgeries, labs, Rapid Response, and codes.
  • Performs setup, operation, and troubleshooting of anesthesia systems and ancillary devices.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Works under supervision of licensed anesthesia providers or CRNA.
  • Supports preparation of patients and equipment for surgery and anesthesia.
  • Cleans, sterilizes, stocks, and maintains anesthesia equipment.
  • Works efficiently, especially in emergencies.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Assists anesthesia staff as needed.
  • Prepares patients for invasive monitoring and procedures.
  • Assists with invasive procedures and equipment setup, including monitoring and infusion devices.
  • Performs technical troubleshooting of anesthesia and monitoring systems.
