SUBSTITUTE ASSOCIATE / PARA - INFORMATION

The following guidelines will be in effect for the 2024-25 school year concerning substitute ASSOCIATE / PARA.

Preferred but not required: Associate certificate from the AEA.

Associates/Paras might also be available to teach in the classroom if the appropriate licensure exists.

The Iowa Department of Education has made the following changes for 2020-2021 substitute teaching options. Please review this document.

Necessary Documentation and Training

• Trainings - please work with Melisa Venneman in Central Office for all required training, physical examination requirements, signature on specific board policies, etc.
• Completed application through Frontline/Applitracksystem
• Physical examination form. Required for all employees for placement on active substitute list; to be updated every three years at a cost to be borne by the employee.
• Clean returned background check and fingerprinting.

Compensation

Special Education Sub Associate: $14.00 per hour

Regular Education Sub Associate: $14.00 per hour
