Job summary

California State University, Sacramento seeks an Associate Vice President for Facilities Management to lead facilities planning, construction, operation, maintenance and repair across more than 50 buildings on 616 acres, directing a team of over 200 staff.

The AVP reports to the Vice President for Administration/CFO, serves on university and system committees, and represents CSU on facilities matters with local government and the Chancellor’s Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction, or a field related to the responsibilities of the position or equivalent work experience.
• Extensive facilities management experience acquired through increasingly responsible positions over a period of at least 8 years in a college/university or comparable environment of similar size and complexity.
• Financial management experience overseeing complex budgets with various funds.
• Experience as a supervisor or manager in a large and complex organization
• Experience coordinating with multiple entities to accomplish master plans and multiple and complex construction projects from conception to completion in a centralized and highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Administration/CFO, the Associate Vice President for Facilities Management is the key University officer responsible for Facilities Management and a critical member of senior administration working in support of the overall academic mission of the University. The incumbent has primary management and leadership responsibility for facilities planning, construction, operation, maintenance and repair, management of building space, and oversees over 200 employees. The AVP plays an instrumental role in cross-functional future planning, as well as the maintenance of strong relations with the CSU Chancellor’s Office, city, county, and other agencies.

The Associate Vice President serves on University and system committees and acts as liaison to the system office for planning, design and construction projects. The position represents the University for facilities matters at city, county, and state government levels and to the legislative branches of government.

FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $15,834 per month - $18,750 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,891 per month - $22,119 per month

Final salary will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

This position may occasionally require evening and weekend hours to support University events and operational needs.

We perform maintenance and renovation of facilities; plan and manage new construction; support University initiatives through our commitment to building a welcoming campus which covers over 50 buildings on 616 acres; and by creating a dynamic physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
