Summary of Job Duties andResponsibilities:
Responsible for assisting the VicePresident for Finance and Administrative Services (VPFAS) inmanaging the daily operations and strategic planning of theuniversity facilities. Includes responsibility for all aspects offacility project development and management, as well as directsupervision over the directors and associate directors of Buildingand Equipment Maintenance, Environmental Safety & Health,Facilities Finance and Administration, Grounds Maintenance andBuilding Services, Facilities Design & Construction andthird-party contracts for grounds and building services. The AVPFMassists in the development and implementation of campussustainability initiatives, particularly as they relate to energyefficiency and the sustainable design and construction of campusfacilities. Responsible for coordinating effective communicationand collaboration between campus constituents and projectarchitects, engineers, and the general contractor as well as makingfrequent presentations to legislative committees and the Board ofRegents as required.
- Manages the overall department comprised of a workforce ofapproximately 65 employees
- Responsible for an annual budget of approximately $13.5 millionand manages an annual renovation volume of $10M (~200+ projects)and major design and construction projects of sometimes near $100million dollars.
- Manages contracts for third parties, primarily for custodialand grounds services.
- Oversees Environmental Safety and Health to ensure adherence toapplicable safety rules and health standards, as well as local,state and federal regulations.
- Develops and recommends policies, planning guidelines, andprocedures for the development of the University's biennial capitalbudget program, and manages the program throughout the process ofdevelopment, approval and implementation.
- Develops and implements, or recommends, University policies andprocedures for facilities and utilities systems management,maintenance, operation, and capital construction.
- Maintains campus master plan and current boundary lineinformation.
- Maintains land and building data for campus facilities.
- Responsible for compliance with all federal, state and localbuilding codes and requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, architecture or arelated field required.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of significant experience in rolesof progressively increased responsibilities in comprehensivefacilities management in an institutional setting, or similarorganization setting with multiple, complex systems, of which fiveyears should be in responsible charge of a facilities managementorganization or a major component of one required.
- Must have a good working knowledge of facilities planning,design and construction, facilities maintenance and management,utilities operation and management, personnel management andtraining, and financial management.
- Must have excellent administrative, supervisory, and oral andwritten communication skills.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field such as engineering,architecture, and construction management
- Understanding of software for Computerized MaintenanceManagement System {CMMS)
- Knowledge of scheduling Software
- Knowledge of Construction Management software such asProcore
