The Associate Vice President (AVP), Salesforce Technical Delivery role focuses heavily on the “how” of technology implementation within the Society’s broader technical architecture, engineering principles, and standards, ensuring successful project deliveries and operational excellence on the Salesforce platform.

The AVP, Salesforce Technical Delivery will be responsible for capacity planning and providing tangible inputs to Salesforce delivery teams for designing and improving the delivery model.

The AVP, Salesforce Technical Delivery position will be responsible for both declarative and code-based solutions within the Salesforce Platform and involving data migrations, systems integrations, and 3rd party applications.

Additionally, the AVP, Salesforce Technical Delivery, will be responsible for managing a team as well as the oversight of contractors.

Essential Functions/Responsibility

Salesforce Technical Delivery - (60%)

  • Lead all aspects of Salesforce technical delivery across Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, and Sales Cloud, ensuring successful implementation, operational excellence, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, and Engineers to drive enhancements and implementations within the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Partner with the Salesforce Architect team and Product teams to identify opportunities and develop product roadmaps.
  • Oversee the successful deployment of Salesforce solutions, including declarative and code-based implementations, security, user management, workflows, and website with WCAG 2.2 AA (or higher) accessibility standards.
  • Work within Agile teams to design, develop, test, and implement technical solutions across the Salesforce stack, with a strong focus on front-end and middleware technologies.
    This includes personal hands-on development as well as management and oversight of other developers
  • Conduct collaborative reviews of designs, code, configurations, and implementations to ensure engineering excellence, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Establish and manage a structured change management and release process to streamline solution deployments and updates.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for technical impediments and delivery challenges.
  • Own the end-to-end technical delivery of the Salesforce platform, ensuring high-quality standards from project inception through delivery and ongoing support.
  • Develop subject matter experts within the team to create resilient, scalable, and secure Salesforce solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance across multiple workstreams to ensure seamless Salesforce platform implementation and reduce time-to-market.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

Team Leadership - (35%)

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to a geographically dispersed team, improving software engineering processes for design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the Salesforce platform.
  • Optimize team productivity through best practices in Salesforce engineering, Agile methodologies, communication, work allocation, and tracking.
    A deep understanding of Agile methodologies is required.
  • Demonstrate alignment to Society’s values, along with the capability to hire, lead, develop, motivate, champion excellence and innovation.
  • Manage third-party staff augmentation firms, ensuring efficient use of contractors within budget, timelines, and required skillsets.
  • Foster and cultivate a culture of continuous delivery and improvement with an emphasis on full lifecycle ownership of the Salesforce platform that technical teams deliver
  • Implement resource capacity management and forecasting for optimal team utilization and project alignment.
  • Oversee hiring and performance management of both staff and contractors.
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of leading-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.

Market and Volunteer Engagement - (5%)

  • Support local market/office, including but not limited to attending market/office meetings.
  • Actively participate in local market/office events as a participant or volunteer

Minimum Experience/Skills /Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, or MS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of leading successful technical delivery with a strong background in Salesforce development or architecture
  • 10+ years CRM experience, the majority specifically with Salesforce (preferably with NPSP) with expert level understanding of the Salesforce product suite. Extensive experience with Sales, Service and Experience Cloud is a must; experience with Marketing Cloud will be huge plus
  • 5+ years’ experience developing applications in the Salesforce Platform utilizing custom objects, Apex classes, triggers, Visual Force pages, Lightning (Aura and LWC), and SOQL
  • Hands-on experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, front-end frameworks like Angular or React and Web Components/Lightning Web Components.
  • Experience in designing and developing software components with a very strong Service Oriented Architecture and integration background.
  • Solid understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies. (Proficiency with tools such as Gearset will Huge Plas)
  • Familiarity with platform authentication patterns (SAML, SSO, OAuth) and platform security capabilities (TLS, SSL).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage both onshore and offshore teams
  • Proven experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Bitbucket for development, version control, collaboration, and tracking
  • Demonstrated capability in operational delivery, system management, and continuous improvement practices
  • Ability to inspire your teammates to deliver quality software solution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills matched with the ability to articulate solutions to other team members.
  • Excellent listener; proven collaborator with leaders, peers and staff

Compensation & Benefits:

The estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $125,000 - $155,000. Final offers will be based on the candidate'sgeographic location, consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.
