Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinarian to provide comprehensive medical care in a Vetco Total Care hospital setting. You will diagnose, treat, and manage animal health, while ensuring compassionate client communication and adherence to practice standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, active state licensure, and DEA with USDA accreditation or readiness to obtain them. Excellent teamwork and problem-solving are essential to support high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited school.
• Active veterinary license in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable.
• USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
• Deliver high-quality client communication and service.
• Develop problem-based plans with differential diagnoses and appropriate treatments based on diagnostics.
• Document observations, exams, diagnostics, treatments, and diagnoses in the medical record concisely.
• Develop treatment plans for day hospitalization and coordinate with referral hospitals for continuity of care.
