Qualifications

• DVM from AVMA-accredited school and eligible for state licensure.
• Active licensure in the state where hospital is located, or ability to obtain by start date.
• Current DEA license and, if applicable, Controlled Substance License.
• USDA accreditation or completion within two months of hire.
• Experience with anesthesia and routine surgeries (spays, neuters, masses, dentals).
• Strong written and verbal communication; compassionate and professional.
• Team player with willingness to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment.
• Document all patient observations, findings of exams and diagnostics, treatments and medications in the medical record.
• Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
• Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examination and extractions.
• Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and coordinate with referral hospitals for continuity of care.
• Participate in rounds and disseminate knowledge to improve care and communication.
