Tempus Recruitment is seeking an Associate Veterinarian for a privately owned small animal hospital in North Carolina. The role offers a stable, full-time schedule with minimal emergencies and limited weekend work, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
You will handle a varied caseload including medical cases, surgeries, dentistry, and diagnostics, while educating clients and maintaining a steady appointment flow of about 15–25 cases daily.
Our client is a privately owned hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their growing team. This well-established small animal practice primarily treats cats and dogs, with openness to expanding into additional species.
This is a full-time position offering an excellent work-life balance. The hospital is open from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. Doctors typically work either 8:00 am to 6:00 pm or 9:00 am to 7:00 pm shifts, averaging just 3.5 working days per week and fewer than 180 working days per year. The rota includes minimal Saturday commitments (approximately two 6-hour shifts every three weeks), with no emergency work, no overnight shifts, and no on-call requirements. The schedule also features built-in 4-5 day weekends at least once per month.
This role includes a varied caseload with responsibilities such as working up medical cases, performing surgical procedures, carrying out dentistry, and utilising diagnostic tools to support patient care. You will also be responsible for building strong client relationships through clear communication and education, while managing a steady appointment load of approximately 15-25 cases per day in a fast-paced environment. The hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian with a minimum of two years' experience who is confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
The practice is well-equipped with modern technology, including ultrasound (both in-house and visiting consultant), a full in-house laboratory, digital radiography, dental radiographs, and Class IV laser therapy. They are also open to investing in additional surgical equipment to support specific clinical interests. The hospital is both AAHA-accredited and Fear Free certified, offering a wide range of services such as surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, pain management, acupuncture, and laser therapy.
You will be joining a collaborative and efficient team of 8 DVMs, with 4 typically working at any given time. The support staff ratio is exceptionally strong at 5:1, including technicians, assistants, and administrative team members, ensuring doctors are well-supported throughout the day. The practice prides itself on maintaining a positive, team-oriented culture in a fast-paced but supportive environment.
