Job summary

Tenneco is seeking a Data Steward to manage data quality across CRM and MDM, drive standardization, cleansing, and de-duplication, and establish quality expectations with business units.

You will perform data analysis, handle data change requests, coordinate with IT for Service Requests, and ensure GDPR-related requests are processed while maintaining traceability of actions and reporting progress to your manager.

About the Role

The Data Steward is responsible for managing the data quality within CRM and MDM, including routine reporting, DCR queue, data standardization, research, cleansing, and de‑duplication. The role establishes quality expectations, enforces standards and best practices, and ensures alignment between customer data across systems.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Manually update attributes of Alexion‑managed records to improve core data, including reaching out to users for proof and updating provider affiliation information via DCR.
  • Manage Customer Data Change Requests.
  • Ensure timeliness and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Apply business and compliance rules to maintain data quality.
  • Perform ad‑hoc data analysis and produce data extracts.
  • Make phone calls/emails to requesters for informational updates.
  • Apply new verified data elements to core database records, ensuring they are not duplicates of existing entries.
  • Accurately list newly applied data elements to core database records.
  • Remove incorrect data elements and database records from core databases.
  • Document actions taken and provide required notation.
  • Audit the data quality of peers (other Data Stewards).
  • Coordinate via Service Requests for tasks required in MDM and CRM to be performed by IT teams.
  • Maintain alignment of CRM and MDM in customer data by monitoring the flow of data between systems for accuracy and quality.
  • Process GDPR‑related requests (opt‑outs from Open Data and Alexion).
  • Enter and validate accounts, professionals, and other client information based on CRM transactions: calls, consent, event attendance.
  • Report progress to direct line manager.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data quality processes, training, and reference materials.
  • Follow data quality rules and processes to remove duplicate data, cleanse inaccurate data, standardize entries, and schedule data analysis reports.
  • Perform daily CRM/MDM maintenance and project‑based tasks, including resolving data issues, running data quality searches, and taking additional external research steps as needed.
  • Understand the current state of data providers and how data is entered into the CRM/MDM by various user profiles/application interfaces.
  • Plan priority improvement areas and select necessary tools to support data quality programs (e.g., reporting) and develop a cadence of regular database maintenance.
  • Participate in initiatives to automate recurring data quality tasks and streamline/standardize dimensions needed for reporting and analysis.
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Solid knowledge of databases and database concepts, SQL, and analytical tools.
  • Familiarity with MS Office tools – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Document processes and adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Basic project management skills and attention to detail.

  • Teamwork, collaboration, and ensuring compliance.
  • Basic to limited exposure to issue/ticket management and tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow).
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Exposure to MDM tools and systems – Informatica, Veeva.
  • Familiarity with QLIK, PowerBI, Snowflake.
  • Industry data knowledge – OneKey, Veeva Open Data, Definitive Health Care data, payer data, etc.
