Job summary

Markel Group is seeking an Associate Underwriter to handle referrals, guide external partners toward profitability, and support underwriting workflows across a range of admitted products. The role emphasizes timely delivery, relationship-building, and proactive project management in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates will have 2 years of insurance experience, be able to operate on Central Time, and be comfortable with Microsoft Teams and Office 365.

Qualifications

• 2 years of insurance experience or professional experience in a similar field.
• Ability to work on central time zone schedule.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and Office 365.
• Experience in agency relationship management (wholesale preferred).

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a suite of admitted products including Special Event, Cyclist, E&S Homeowners and dwelling product.
• Support the Underwriters with team workflows and distribution of emails and referrals.
• Manage assigned partners to ensure profitable growth and gain market feedback.
• Manage projects and tasks from planning to completion within deadlines.
• Participate in group projects as assigned.
• Lead shared resource inboxes while managing personal inbox.

In this role, an Associate Underwriter is expected to handle daily referrals, manage external partners towards production and profitability goals, manage projects from planning to completion and support the Underwriters with various team work flows. Some travel may be required. Applicant will need to be proficient in all Microsoft Office products.

Pay information:

The salary range for this position is $26.10 - $54.36. The posted salary range reflects the lowest and highest base salary applicable to this role across our U.S. locations. Individual offers are determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors. As a result, the salary offered for a specific location will fall within a narrower range than the overall range displayed in this posting. This position may also be eligible to participate in the Company's annual incentive plan.
