Responsibilities

We seek candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, drive for career advancement, and relationship-building skills to join us as an Associate Underwriter. This role involves underwriting and supervising a portion of an Underwriter’s book of business, supporting renewal and new business development, and the opportunity to achieve full underwriting authority.

• Service a book of business under the supervision of an underwriter
• Evaluate, classify, and rate risks to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for quotes
• Log applications, prepare binders, and process policies and endorsements
• Bind risk, process invoices, and handle technical data
• Screen renewal applications, send renewal letters, and prepare quotes for underwriter approval
• Assist with new business development
• Order inspections, handle endorsement requests, and referrals for the underwriter
• Manage relationships with retail agents and follow up on information needed for underwriting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of underwriting support or industry experience, preferably with excess and surplus lines
• Experience in sales and marketing is preferred
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Interest in professional development to obtain full underwriting authority
• Technologically savvy and data-driven
