Job summary

Pennoni Associates in Haddon Heights, NJ seeks an Associate Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation team. You will work on complex traffic projects and mentor junior staff.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 4–8 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in Synchro, HCM, VISSIM, SIDRA, and Microstation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s is a plus.
• 4–8 years of relevant work experience in traffic engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CAD/BIM tools helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist with complex traffic engineering tasks on highway and bridge projects.
• Lead and develop traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.
• Sign and pavement marking design responsibilities.
• Develop Maintenance of Traffic schemes, Construction Phasing, and Traffic Control Plans
• Contribute to TMPs and Traffic Impact Studies (TIS).
• Support ADA design and curb ramp design; coordinate with NJDOT initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff, including CAD.
• Engage with NJDOT/public sector clients and manage client relationships.

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking an Associate Traffic Engineer to work in our Haddon Heights, NJ office with experience consistent, but not limited to:

• Assisting with complex traffic engineering tasks with other staff on highway and bridge projects.
• Leading and developing traffic studies and highway occupancy permits.
• Signing and Pavement Marking design
• Assisting with development of Maintenance of Traffic schemes, Construction Phasing and Traffic Control Plans
• Assisting with development of Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Impact Studies (TIS)
• ADA Design and Curb Ramp Design
• NJDOT Access Management, TSM&O and Complete Streets Initiatives
• Assisting with the development of project Cost Estimates and Specifications.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to technical staff (e.g., CADD).
• Experience with traffic-related software packages (Synchro, HCM, VISSIM, SIDRA)
• Experience with NJDOT and similar public sector clients (Counties, Cities, Townships)
• Developing client relationships with Public and Private Clients.

Required Attributes

• Required education : Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, Master's degree a plus
• Minimum years of work experience : 4-8 years
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Suite; Microstation, Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with InRoads and AutoCAD a plus
• Construction consultation and utility coordination experience a plus
• Licenses : PE, (PTOE desirable)
