Job description

The position is assigned to assist in administering Americo's governance, risk and compliance initiatives through execution of the annual audit plan. This will encompass: building relationships and gathering data to identify and evaluate the control environment, reducing risk and loss exposure, validating the maintenance of compliance with laws, regulations, financial accounting standards, policies and procedures. The associate will also note any operating efficiencies noted during the audits.

Key Responsibilities

Perform financial, operational, and compliance audits.

Examine and evaluate adequacy of internal controls.

Prepare reports, documentation, and audit results

Building effective relationships with management, associates, and team members.

Conduct enterprise and department risk assessments

Perform research, obtain data, and analyze using audit methodologies

Supporting external auditors by conducting specific procedures, preparing work papers, and validating business processes/account balances/financial statement line item

Other Duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications

1-2 years of relevant accounting/audit experience (minimum for Associate title)

Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures relating to auditing of operations, compliance, accounting and financial data

Insurance industry as well as regulatory knowledge

Risk Management & Governance concepts, practices and procedures including internal controls

Understanding of Accounting principles

Well organized, detail oriented, efficient and able to work independently and think critically

Effective oral and written communication skills

Highly proficient user of database/spreadsheet and desktop processing applications

Ability to set achievable and realistic goals as well as able to work around unforeseen obstacles and circumstances

Ability to select and focus on the most important issues and balance multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities

Education

Four-year College Degree
