AST SpaceMobile and our global partners are building the first and only space-based cellular broadband network accessible by standard smartphones. Called SpaceMobile, this ultra-powerful network aims to provide connectivity at 4G/5G speeds everywhere on the planet – on land, at sea, and in flight.

Summary:

The Associate Electrical Test Engineer is responsible for developing and executing tests to ensure product quality. This role involves analyzing product features, defining test requirements, creating customized quality checks, and writing final test procedures for approval by the subsystem lead engineer. The test engineer also executes test procedures and prepares test reports. Broad engineering knowledge, attention to detail, and innovative thinking are essential for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the product design team and subsystem lead engineers to determine testing requirements.
• Write test plans and procedures, and develop test processes to maturity.
• Execute test procedures accurately.
• Train technical staff and provide technical support as needed.
• Develop, evaluate, and implement automation into test processes where possible.
• Ensure all tests and procedures comply with company and industry standards.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports for management.
• Provide expertise on test equipment and methods to product engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. or Permanent Residency.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience in research, development, testing, or laboratory environments.
• Proficiency with laboratory software such as LabView, Ansys, MATLAB.
• Experience with test automation.
• Familiarity with electronics test equipment: power supplies, multimeters, source meters.
• Knowledge of battery systems and cycling equipment.
• Understanding of photovoltaic (PV) solar cells and related processes.
• Experience with environmental test chambers and vibration tables.
• Background in quality control or inspection of complex electronics, especially for aerospace or defense applications.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
