Position Overview:

Haggar is seeking an early-career Associate Technical Designer to join our Men's Pants team in Dallas. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or a technical design professional with one to two years of experience at a smaller company who is ready to build deeper technical skills and gain exposure to a large, global product development operation.

Working alongside experienced Technical Design, Design, Product Development, Sourcing, and factory partners, you will learn how fit, pattern, construction, materials, and product data come together to move a garment from concept through production. You will contribute from day one while receiving guidance, feedback, and hands-on development in a stable, quickly growing company.

Essential Role Functions:

Support Fit & Product Execution

  • Support garment fittings by preparing samples, capturing fit observations, measuring garments, and documenting agreed-upon corrections.
  • Evaluate development samples for measurements, fit, construction, sewing quality, trims, and overall product execution under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Partner with Design and Product Development to help translate styling intent into clear, accurate technical direction.
  • Follow issues through resolution and elevate questions or risks promptly when additional technical guidance is needed.

Build Pattern, Grading & Construction Knowledge

  • Learn and apply foundational patternmaking, garment construction, and grading principles for adult menswear, including exposure to Big & Tall sizing.
  • Assist with organizing approved pants blocks, patterns, and related technical records according to established standards.
  • Compare samples to approved blocks and specifications, identify differences, and support updates that improve fit consistency.
  • Develop working knowledge of fabrics, fusings, internal components, trims, and sewing methods that influence garment fit and performance.

Create Accurate Technical Documentation

  • Prepare and update technical sketches, points of measure, specifications, construction details, fit comments, and bill of materials information.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator, Excel, PLM, and related tools to maintain complete and accurate product information.
  • Help track samples, approvals, pattern status, trims, and development milestones against seasonal timelines.
  • Organize files and technical records so information is clear, current, and easy for cross-functional and factory partners to use.
  • Work closely with Technical Design, Design, Product Development, Sourcing, and global factory partners.
  • Ask thoughtful questions, apply feedback, and build confidence communicating technical observations in fittings and team discussions.
  • Balance multiple priorities with strong attention to detail, follow-through, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Contribute ideas that may improve consistency, efficiency, product quality, or team ways of working.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Technical Design, Product Development, Fashion Design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Recent graduate or one to two years of experience in apparel technical design, product development, pattern making, sample development, or a related role. Internship and co-op experience are welcome.
  • Foundational understanding of garment construction, measurements, specifications, fit, and pattern-making principles.
  • Working proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel, with an interest in becoming an advanced user.
  • Strong organization, accuracy, curiosity, and follow-through.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Comfort receiving feedback, asking questions, learning new systems, and working in a fast-paced product environment.

Helpful, But Not Required

  • Coursework, internship, or early professional experience in woven pants, menswear, tailored clothing, or fit.
  • Exposure to Gerber AccuMark or another 2D pattern-making system.
  • Exposure to CLO3D, AccuMark 3D, PLM, Adobe Photoshop, or PowerPoint.
  • Experience communicating with vendors, factories, sample rooms, or cross-functional product teams.

Why Join Haggar?

  • Build a strong technical design foundation with coaching from experienced apparel professionals.
  • Gain broad visibility into how a large product development operation works across Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Sourcing, and global manufacturing.
  • Work on products sold through major retail channels and learn how quality, cost, manufacturability, and speed are balanced at scale.
  • Join a stable, quickly growing company where initiative, accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development are valued.
  • Create a career path in technical design while developing transferable skills in fit, pattern, construction, systems, and global product execution.

The Candidate Who Will Thrive Here

You do not need to arrive knowing everything. You should bring a strong foundation, genuine curiosity, pride in accurate work, and the motivation to learn. The right candidate will enjoy connecting creative intent with technical problem-solving and will be excited to grow within a collaborative, hands‑on product team.

What we Offer:
