Job summary

J.Crew Factory is seeking a Technical Designer to evaluate garments against vendor specs, build detailed tech packs, and drive fittings with factories. You’ll partner with design, product, and sourcing teams to ensure perfect construction and size grading while meeting deadlines.

The role requires 2–4 years in technical design, knowledge of fit and sewing, and proficiency with PLM, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Illustrator. Hybrid work options may be considered for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• College degree in technical design or fashion design or equivalent work experience.
• 2–4 years of technical design experience.
• Knowledge of fit, grade rules, and sewing.
• Knowledge of pattern-making and draping.
• Experience with PLM, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Illustrator.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and measure incoming garments to ensure alignment with vendor supplied measurements.
• Understand the fit history and deadlines that are in place.
• Conduct and lead fittings, communicating with cross functional team members.
• Build tech packs including garment sketches, construction details and grade rules.
• Work independently with factories to resolve construction/sewing problems.
• Communicate daily with vendors and internal teams.
• Track samples and counter samples to ensure approval dates are met.
