Job summary

L'agence is seeking an Associate Technical Designer in Los Angeles to own the denim and woven bottoms category from development to production. You will ensure accurate measurements, quality, construction, and fit through collaboration with the Senior Technical Designer.

You will assemble tech packs, create fit comments, source fabrics/trims, and manage documentation across the product lifecycle, including specifications, grading, and vendor communications.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years minimum of Technical Design experience, preferably Denim and Knits.
  • Strong knowledge of prototyping, development/production practices as well as apparel construction and fit.
  • Hands on experience with trouble shooting production, pattern and grading issues.
  • Mastery of Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in grading, BOM, trims.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble tech packs with detailed sketches/illustrations, garment construction details and specs on Adobe Illustrator and Excel while adhering to set established standards, templates, and organization.
  • Create and develop clear and detailed fit comment document with easily understandable comments using written and visual methods and be able to communicate fit and balance issues via photos, detailed sketches, and pattern diagram or directly on pattern when needed.
  • Partake in fabric and trim sourcing.
  • Update cross functional WIPs, line sheets and fit lists within timely manner to maintain accurate record keeping while maintaining established standards, templates, and aesthetics.
  • Assist in assigning and setting up style names and style numbers in Full Circle.
  • Enter and update proper yields in full circle.
  • Measure garments accurately to identify any fit issues and execute fit comments efficiently to remain on schedule with calendar deadlines.
  • Assess garments to determine compliance of spec, construction, and any prior changes.
  • Assist in leading fit sessions on live models and fit forms, provide recommendations, note callouts, and log critiques to address all issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval to ensure fit continuity and sizing consistency.
  • Communicate daily with vendors regarding fit, construction, sewing changes and any general questions as well as final grading throughout entire product lifecycle.
  • Assist in identifying potential product, quality and costing issues and make appropriate recommendations to maintain brand integrity.
  • Track and manage workflow and workload including managing fit schedule and calendar.
  • Work with the Senior PD and Tech Designer to assess next steps when fit issues arise during the pre-production/production process and any potential impacts to timing.
  • Maintain sample organization throughout development and production lifecycle including tagging samples and tracking status of fit samples/packages.
  • Work closely with PD and Design to keep BOM updated throughout entire development and production life cycle.
  • Work closely with PD on sampling needs and requests to meet calendar milestones and due dates.
  • Review and approve final inspection spec sheets before bulk shipping.

Job Summary

The Associate Technical Designer will work in partnership with the Senior Technical Designer and oversee and own all aspects for the denim/woven bottoms category from initial development to final production (T.O.P) to ensure accurate execution of requested measurements, quality, construction, and overall fit.

Physical Requirements
  • • This position requires frequent use of a computer, mouse and keyboard.
  • • Must be able to physically report into the HQ office in Los Angeles, CA 3-4 days per week.

  • • Must be able to push, pull, lift up to 15 lbs.
