Job summary

Fourth Floor is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join our Vernon, CA team on a temp-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate has 8–10+ years of experience in technical design for women's contemporary, with deep knowledge of garment construction, grading, pattern making, and trims.

You will manage specs in PLM, build tech packs, and guide factories from concept through production. The role requires strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and experience collaborating with overseas

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years experience in Technical Design
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Knowledge of garment construction, grading, pattern making, silhouettes, colorways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim; familiarity with print design and manufacturing
• Experience working with overseas factories
• Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• High integrity and honesty
• Able to multitask, meet deadlines, and interpret sketches for tech packs

Responsibilities

• Create and manage garment specifications and standards within the PLM system for designated product categories
• Oversee the product journey from concept to production approval; develop fit, construction, grading, and trim
• Build tech packs with garment specifications, construction details, and digital patterns for factories
• Inspect samples to ensure quality standards are met
• Communicate revisions to factories through fit comments, updated specs, patterns, construction details, and sketches
• Execute fit comments promptly to align with production timelines
• Review graded nest patterns and issue grading guidelines post-fit approval
• Partner with Quality Control to solve quality control issues

What You’ll Do

• Create and manage garment specifications and standards within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for designated product categories.
• Oversee the product journey from the concept stage (initial style development) to the final production approval. This includes developing garment fit, construction, grading, and trim using tech packs, flat patterns, and fit comments
• Build tech packs with garment specifications, construction details, and digital patterns for factories to create samples.
• Inspect samples to ensure they meet company quality standards.
• Communicate revisions to factories through fit comments, updating specs, patterns, construction details, and sketch.
• Execute fit comments promptly to keep the fit process aligned with production timelines.
• Review graded nest patterns and issue grading guidelines to vendors post-fit approval to maintain consistent fit and quality.
• Partner with Quality Control to creatively solve quality control issues

What You’ll Need
