Ellucian is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer to build and maintain automations that move data between the University’s core systems at Union College of Union County, NJ in Cranford. The role emphasizes cloud-to-on-premises integrations, reliable data processing, and proactive monitoring.

You will work with JavaScript, JSON, APIs, and PostgreSQL to develop integrations, transform data, and create SQL-based reports supporting operational and business needs.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with JavaScript, JSON, APIs, and web services.
• Strong PostgreSQL/SQL skills for report writing, data analysis, querying, and troubleshooting.
• Experience creating and maintaining integrations and data transformations.

Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for anAssociate Systems Engineer to build and maintain the automations that move data between the University’s core systems. Much of the work involves connecting cloud services to one another and to our on-premises environment, replacing manual processes with reliable, monitored, and documented automation. The role requires hands‑on experience with JavaScript, JSON, APIs, and web services, as well as strong PostgreSQL/SQL skills for report writing, data analysis, querying, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain integrations, transform and validate data, create and maintain SQL‑based reports, and ensure reliable communication between systems.

Where you will make an impact

• Build and maintain integrations between cloud and on-premises systems using APIs, web services, and integration platforms.
• Meet with staff across the College to understand existing business processes and requirements before designing and automating solutions.
• Design and create forms and automated workflows using Ellucian Intelligent Processes and Integration Management.
• Write SQL/PostgreSQL queries and develop reports using College data sources to support operational and business needs.
• Monitor running integrations and automations, troubleshoot errors, and resolve failures to ensure reliable data processing.
• Document integrations, workflows, data mappings, and processes to support ongoing maintenance and operational continuity.

What you will bring

• Experience in a business analytics role including: process definition, management and monitoring, release management, web experience, database, SAP Business Objects.
• Experienced in creating Business Requirement Documents, User Requirement Specification, and Functional Requirement Specifications. Experienced in creating Data Flow Diagrams, Use Cases, State Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, Component Diagrams, Use Case Diagrams & Activity diagrams.
• Experience with Data Governance, Data Standards, or other data management business processes
• Design and delivering reporting capabilities to end-users.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Teamwork focused/collaborative work style.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice to have

• The ability to present ideas to both technical and functional staff.
• The ability to quickly learn new software applications.
• Experience in using Ellucian Colleague or other Student Information Systems.
• Experience in using SAP Business Objects or other Business Intelligence tools.
• Experience in managing large and complex projects.
