Job summary

Ellucian is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer onsite at Union College of Union County, NJ (Cranford) to build automations that move data between core systems and cloud services. You will replace manual processes with reliable, monitored automation and develop integrations, SQL reports, and data transformations.

You will collaborate with staff to understand business processes, design solutions, and ensure reliable data processing across the environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a business analytics role including process definition, management and monitoring, release management, web experience, database and SAP Business Objects.
• Ability to create Data Flow Diagrams, Use Cases, State Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams and Activity diagrams.
• Experience with Data Governance or data management processes.

We’re looking for an Associate Systems Engineer to build and maintain the automations that move data between the University’s core systems. Much of the work involves connecting cloud services to one another and to our on-premises environment, replacing manual processes with reliable, monitored, and documented automation. The role requires hands‑on experience with JavaScript, JSON, APIs, and web services, as well as strong PostgreSQL/SQL skills for report writing, data analysis, querying, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain integrations, transform and validate data, create and maintain SQL-based reports, and ensure reliable communication between systems.

What you will bring

• Experience in a business analytics role including: process definition, management and monitoring, release management, web experience, database, SAP Business Objects.
• Experienced in creating Business Requirement Documents, User Requirement Specification, and Functional Requirement Specifications. Experienced in creating Data Flow Diagrams, Use Cases, State Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, Component Diagrams, Use Case Diagrams & Activity diagrams.
• Experience with Data Governance, Data Standards, or other data management business processes
• Design and delivering reporting capabilities to end-users.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Teamwork focused/collaborative work style.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice to have

• The ability to present ideas to both technical and functional staff.
• The ability to quickly learn new software applications.
• Experience in using Ellucian Colleague or other Student Information Systems.
• Experience in using SAP Business Objects or other Business Intelligence tools.
• Experience in managing large and complex projects.
