Job summary

Boeing in North Charleston, SC is seeking an Associate Structural Analysis Engineer to join the Systems Stress and Interiors Stress teams. You will perform stress analysis on Boeing 787 aircraft systems and interiors using hand methods, FEA tools, and dynamic simulations, supporting certification and in-service timely delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and at least 2 years of related experience, with 1+ year in structural analysis.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• At least 1 year of experience performing structural analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis on Boeing 787 Aircraft Systems or Interiors products using hand analysis, FEA, and dynamic simulation tools.
• Review supplier documents to support engineering oversight and compliance.
• Develop and document structural requirements to meet system or interior designs.
• Coordinate with engineering groups to define loads, interfaces, and environment.
• Guide design and verify structural integrity throughout the lifecycle.
• Develop test plans, support tests, and analyze results to verify requirements.
• Document certification/test results to support regulatory and customer needs.
• Support in-service products by investigating failures and implementing improvements.
• Develop certification documentation for CFR Part 25 projects.
• Collaborate with domestic and international partners on projects.
• Support growth of a new engineering organization.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis on Boeing 787 Aircraft Systems or Interiors products using classical hand analysis methods, Finite Element tools/methods, and/or Dynamic Simulation tools/methods.
• Reviews supplier documents in support of supplier technical oversight including engineering drawings, analysis, test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the Systems or Interior Commodity designs.
• Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment such as load cases, interface architecture, and interface loads.
• Guides product design and verifies structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
• Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
• Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
• Develops certification related documentation to support CFR Part 25 Type Cert projects.
• Collaborates and performs oversight on projects with domestic and international partners/suppliers.
• Actively supports the growth and development of a new engineering organization.
• Works under general direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience)

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
• At least 2 years of experience working in relevant fields of the engineering industry
• At least 1 year of experience performing structural analysis
• Experience performing structural analysis using classical hand calculation methods

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• Experience with basic coding/script writing with FEA tools
• Experience working projects with composite material systems
• Prior experience with manufacturing/production
• Prior experience with Boeing Systems Stress or Interiors Stress
