Job summary

Canvas, Inc. seeks an Associate Solutions Architect to shape technical strategy and drive growth across defense, intelligence, civilian space, and homeland security programs.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams to craft innovative customer-focused solutions and respond to proposals and RFIs. Required 5–8 years in solution architecture with MBSE, system-of-systems integration, cloud architectures, and cybersecurity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of industry experience in solution architecture or supporting operational programs.
  • Experience leading or IPT-led teams is preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions, whitepapers and BOEs.
  • Active Secret clearance or eligibility is beneficial.

This position requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise and the ability to craft innovative, customer-focused solutions tailored to unique mission requirements.You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to:* **Lead technical solution development** for complex problems across the Mission Technology Solutions portfolio.* **Shape customer requirements** through early engagement, market research, and identification of competitive discriminators.* **Develop proposal content**, including technical volumes, whitepapers, and Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and respond to RFIs and market surveys.* **Apply advanced methodologies** such as **Digital Engineering**, **Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)**, **DevSecOps**, **Agile development**, **Cloud architectures**, and **Data Analytics using AI/ML,** with a strong emphasis on **System of Systems integration**.* **Strong interpersonal skills** working across multi-disciplinary teams to capture and develop new and innovative solutions to a wide range of complex problems.Security clearance requirements vary by position. While some opportunities may require an **active Secret security clearance** due to the nature of the work, others do not. Candidates without clearance are encouraged to apply, as we have roles that do not require this level of access. Preferred experience in an operational leadership role such as a Team Lead or Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead.* **Technical Expertise*** Proven experience in one or more mission areas: **Defense**, **Intelligence**, **Civilian Space**, or **Homeland Security**.* Strong background in **Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE),** **System of Systems integration, architecture**, and **infrastructure**.* Familiarity with advanced methodologies such as:* **Digital Engineering*** **Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)*** **DevSecOps*** **Agile development (software or hardware)*** **Cloud architectures*** **Data Analytics, AI/ML methodologies*** **Cybersecurity*** **Business Development & Proposal Skills*** Demonstrated ability to create, lead, or deliver technical solution development for complex problems for proposal volumes or operational programs.* Experience writing **technical solutions**, **whitepapers**, and developing **Basis of Estimates (BOEs)** as part of a proposal.* Ability to respond to **RFIs**, **market surveys**, and support customer shaping efforts.* **Leadership & Communication*** Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to **mentor teams**, foster collaboration, and engage stakeholders.* Strong communication and presentation skills for interfacing with customers and internal leadership.* Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams, foster collaboration, and engage stakeholders.* Demonstrate effective use multiple communication methods to work across geographically dispersed teams collaborating on shared artifacts.* **Security Clearance*** **Security clearance eligibility is required.**Canvas was founded by Jami Peyton in 2007 to deliver real-world engineering and technology solutions that strengthen national defense.
