Job Description

This posting is for multiple technology positions across various Teams in Southwest's Warrior Hire Program. The mission of the Warrior Hire Program is to recruit and hire transitioning Veterans and guide and support them through the beginning of their corporate career by providing them opportunities for professional growth, camaraderie, and mentorship. If you're planning your transition to a civilian career or recently transitioned, this program is designed to support you in that transition and as you join our Southwest Family. Additional Details
  • Revenue Accounting Technology team: This role supports both of our revenue accounting applications, SIRAX and SAP BRIM. This Engineer collaborates with multiple Finance Teams and has the opportunity to innovate and learn in these large systems each day. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with AWS Transfer Family, AWS Lambdas, AWS CloudWatch, AWS S/3 Buckets, AWS Appflow, SIRAX (SAP Netweaver-based), SAP PI, SAP BRIM/Convergent Mediation, Java, Python, Jira, Xray, and Agile/Scrum.
  • AI Engineering team: Responsible for enabling Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities for the Enterprise. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with Boto (python libraries for AWS services), Terraform for coding Infra as Code (IAC), Gitlab for GitOps, SQL, Python, and AWS IAM, Sagemaker, and Bedrock.
  • This Dallas-based role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in an approved remote location within the Dallas area.
  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge and skills of software development and testing to solve a range of problems
  • Leverage knowledge to inform technical and non-technical requirements to apply to Business domain fundamentals
  • Maintain understanding of current technologies or programming practices through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional conferences, workshops, or groups
  • Troubleshoot program and system malfunctions to restore normal functioning across environments, including production
  • Evaluate code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, and meets industry standards
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Contribute to Team-level technical discussion and decisions and identify opportunities for Team improvement
  • Follow agile delivery processes to drive work and has a sense of urgency about getting work completed
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills of software development and testing to solve a range of problems
  • Proficient knowledge of at least one required programming language
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with various Technology or partner Teams
  • Ability to analyze large, complex, and vague Business or technical problems, articulating the problem or root cause, and translating the analysis into viable solution recommendations
  • Ability to take on multiple assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible work
  • Ability to develop, present and effectively communicate ideas and strategies to a variety of audiences
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent formal training
Experience
  • Required: Entry level experience, developing skills and knowledge in software engineering
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from a limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in English to meet job demands
  • Ability to use a computer and other office tools with sufficient speed and accuracy

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Pay & Benefits

Competitive salary from $86,850 to $96,500 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Additional bonus opportunities may be available for leadership and individual contributors.
