Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an Associate-level Software Engineer for its Risk Engineering team in Salt Lake City. You will contribute to the data platform that powers critical risk metrics, working across Java, Python, Spark, and cloud technologies to keep the platform efficient and scalable.

You will collaborate with global engineers and risk managers to deliver solutions, optimize performance, and build reporting for risk outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required and strongly preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience in risk technology within a financial institution.
• Strong coding skills in Scala/Java/Python and knowledge of distributed computing.
• Familiarity with SQL, data modeling and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Tune and optimize applications for memory and CPU efficiency.
• Analyze trends in Market Risk metrics and explain variances.
• Develop risk calculations using Snowflake, HDFS and distributed processing.
• Build reporting for risk outputs using SQL and Tableau-like tools.
• Collaborate with global engineers and risk managers across SDLC.
• Support batch processes and data distribution to other systems.
