Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an Associate level Software Engineer to join Capital Risk Engineering in Salt Lake City. You will work on risk computations, data extraction, and reporting with a global team across Scala, Java, Python, Spark, and web UI development.

You will influence performance, analytics, and batch processing using Snowflake, Sybase IQ, and HDFS, while mentoring others in SDLC practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years' experience in risk technology teams within a large financial institution.
• Experience in credit risk management and related regulatory deliverables.
• Strong software development basics: data structures, algorithms and design.
• Ability to multi-task and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and proprietary tools when required.
• Technologies include Scala, Java, Python, Spark, Linux, shell scripting, TDD, and build tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and tune applications across a global team to improve performance.
• Perform statistical analyses to identify trends in Market Risk metrics.
• Build internal/external reports using SQL and Tableau outputs.
• Develop front-end UI for risk management actions using web technologies.
• Create calculations with Snowflake, Sybase IQ, and distributed HDFS systems.
• Interact with business users to resolve issues and support data workflows.
• Design and support batch processes with scheduling infrastructure.
• Mentor junior engineers across SDLC activities.
