Ontic Technologies is hiring an early‑career full‑stack engineer in Austin. You’ll build features across frontend and backend with guidance from senior engineers, gaining ownership of meaningful work in a collaborative, agile environment.

You will grow across Java, Spring Boot, MongoDB, React, and modern JS tooling, while contributing to secure software that supports threat assessment and safety initiatives. This role requires working in the U.S. FedRAMP context and residing in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 0–2 years of professional, internship, or project software engineering experience with frontend and backend exposure.
• Familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, and databases such as MongoDB.

Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Build and ship well-tested features across frontend and backend with guidance from senior engineers.
• Collaboration: Work with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers in an agile environment to deliver features.
• Code Quality: Write clean, readable, and tested code; participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Learning & Growth: Ramp up quickly on Ontic's tech stack and domain, seek feedback and mentorship.
• Debugging & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve bugs, escalate as needed.
• Participation: Contribute ideas in technical design discussions.

Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Build and ship well-tested features across the frontend and backend, with guidance and support from senior engineers
• Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers in an agile environment to deliver features and enhancements
• Code Quality: Write clean, readable, and tested code; participate actively in code reviews and incorporate feedback
• Learning & Growth: Ramp up quickly on Ontic's tech stack and domain, and seek out feedback and mentorship to accelerate your development
• Debugging & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve bugs and issues, escalating and collaborating with senior engineers as needed
• Participation: Contribute ideas and perspective in technical design discussions for the features you work on

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 0-2 years of professional, internship, or project experience in software engineering, with exposure to both backend and frontend development
• Some familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, and database technologies such as MongoDB (coursework, internship, or project experience is welcome)
• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and React fundamentals
• Exposure to modern JS tooling (npm/Webpack) and a willingness to grow into TypeScript, state management (Redux/Zustand/React Query), and testing (Jest)
• Solid foundational problem-solving and analytical ability
• Understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows
• Familiarity with, or interest in learning, CI/CD and cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure)

This role is based in Austin, Texas, and requires to work from the Austin office three days a week.

This role supports a FedRAMP environment and requires that work be performed within the United States by individuals authorized to work in the U.S. and who are U.S. citizens.
