Job summary

Life.Church is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to contribute to the YouVersion family of apps. You will work on clearly defined tasks under mentorship, learning to write clean, scalable code that makes an impact and helps Scripture come to life.

You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver features, write tests, and grow your technical foundation while maintaining a mission-driven mindset.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of software development experience with a CS or related degree required.
• Foundational knowledge of Python or willingness to learn.
• Basic understanding of cloud concepts.
• Familiarity with APIs and web services.
• Fundamentals of mobile development.
• Exposure to Dart/Flutter or Swift (learning path available).
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with React and modern web development.
• Responsive design basics.
• Growth mindset and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Learn the process: work on clearly defined tasks with guidance, gradually building skills.
• Write & review code with mentorship on best practices and participation in code reviews.
• Build quality skills by writing tests to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Develop debugging skills with support and systematic troubleshooting approaches.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to understand how features are built.
• Maintain clear communication and ask good questions about technical concepts.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on delivering value.
