Job summary

Interface Engineering, Inc. in New York City, NY is seeking an Associate / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (MEP).

The role offers a hybrid schedule (2 days in-office per week) under our 100% employee-owned model with a Collaboration from Home policy to support flexible, impactful work. You will lead local MEP design teams, manage multi-discipline projects, and develop HVAC drawings and specifications while coordinating with clients and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required (MEP emphasis preferred).
• 7+ years' experience in MEP design/consulting.
• Experience leading teams and managing projects in MEP space.
• Strong client service and communication skills; thorough knowledge of building codes.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead local MEP design teams.
• Develop and maintain a book of local clients (architects and owners). HVAC system selection, engineering & design.
• Project Management of multi-discipline MEP design consulting teams.
• Preparation of HVAC drawings, analysis, specifications, and calculations.
• Provide construction administration & site observations.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead local MEP design teams.
• Develop and maintain a book of local clients (architects and owners). HVAC system selection, engineering & design.
• Project Management of multi-discipline MEP design consulting teams

• Provide oversight of HVAC support staff.
• Provide construction administration & site observations related to your projects.

Required

What You'll Bring:

• BSME
• 7+ years' experience in MEP design/consulting
• Team leadership/management experience
• Project Management Experience in the MEP space
• High-energy client services skills
• Excellent communication ability
• Complete understanding of building codes
• Thorough design system knowledge

Preferred

• A Professional Engineering License (or equivalent experience)
• LEED Accreditation
• Working IES-VE Knowledge
