IDEXX Laboratories, Inc in Maine is seeking an Associate Scientist for the Assay Design & Development group to support the design, development, and characterization of new products and reagents. You will work with a scientifically diverse team, accelerating our pipeline with a focus on PCR assay design and testing, performing experiments, analyzing data, and communicating results to R&D and Manufacturing.

Relocation considerations may apply; travel could be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with 3–5 years of lab experience.
• Experience with PCR reagents, oligonucleotides, plasmids, enzymes, or molecular diagnostics.
• ELISA and other immunoassay techniques is preferred.
• Strong laboratory skills with ability to design and execute moderately complex experiments.
• Detail-oriented, follows SOPs, and learns new techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, execute, and troubleshoot multi-variable laboratory experiments.
• Perform testing, characterization, and validation of reagents and final products.
• Analyze experimental data and provide recommendations based on scientific findings.
• Prepare solutions and reagents, and maintain electronic lab notebooks and reports.
• Prepare presentations and communicate results to R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing.
• Support reagent scale-up, process improvements, investigations, and technology transfer.
