Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a safety professional to advance our safety program across multiple sites. The role focuses on conducting site inspections, coordinating OSHA-aligned safety trainings, and documenting incidents to improve overall safety performance.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in safety-related field and 1+ years of relevant experience, with preferred CPR/First Aid and OSHA certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences.
  • 1+ years of relevant safety or environmental health experience.
  • CPR and First Aid; OSHA 500/CHST/ASP certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 standards or state construction safety regulations.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect tours of smaller, less complex job sites to ensure OSHA compliance with company/state/federal rules.
  • Report safety concerns to safety management.
  • Coordinate, promote and conduct safety programs and activities.
  • Document safety inspections and cite dangerous areas/procedures with corrective recommendations.
  • Ensure non-compliance issues are corrected within designated timeframes.
  • Maintain site safety documentation including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs.
  • Assist with emergency response and participate in accident investigation documentation for regulator submissions.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees including orientation.

Job description

Position Summary

This role supports a safe work environment by conducting inspections, documenting incidents, and coordinating safety programs and training.

Position Details
  • Tours and inspects smaller, less complex job sites with guidance to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Reports concerns to safety management.
  • Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system.
  • Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
  • Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues. Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe.
  • Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs. Reviews daily job hazard logs and takes action as required.
  • Assists with providing emergency response to employees as needed. Participates in and documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Assists with onboarding new employees, including orientation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline, or equivalent education, training and/or experience
  • 1+years of relevant experience
  • CPR and First Aid, OSHA 500/CHST/ASP certification preferred
  • OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): List no more than six (6) essential KSAs, including system-relevant technical skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid customer service and organizational skills
  • Solid computer skills-experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet
