Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Safety professional to plan, implement, and coordinate safety, health, and environmental programs ensuring OSHA compliance and a safe workplace for employees. The role involves site inspections, documentation, emergency response, training, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Safety/Environmental fields, OSHA training, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline preferred.
• Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred.
• OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred.
• OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in related field.
• Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or state regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer-service and organizational skills.
• Solid computer skills—MS Office and ability to access OSHA information online.
• Knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.
• Travel 40% of time

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement safety, health and environmental programs.
• Inspect job sites for OSHA compliance and report concerns.
• Maintain safety documentation and training logs.
• Provide emergency response and assist with accident investigations.
• Mentor junior Safety staff.
• Assist with training material development and delivery.

Position Summary

Plan, coordinate and implement Southland’s safety, health and environmental protection programs, ensuring compliance with corporate safety standards and industry regulations, and promoting a safe, incident-free work environment for Southland employees

Position Details

• Tours andinspectssmaller, less-complexjob sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.Reportsconcernsto safety management.Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating,promotingand conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system.
• Documentssafety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues. Ensures cited issues are corrected withindesignatedtimeframe.
• Maintainsall site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspectionreportsand training logs.Reviews daily job hazard logs andtakes actionas required.
• Provides emergency response to employees as needed.Documentsinformation for the investigation of accidents and injuries andsubmitsdata to regulatory agencies asrequired.
• Serves as mentor to less-experienced Safety employees.
• Assists with development of training materials and coordinates and facilitates employee training as necessary.
