Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, located in Downtown Bronx, is one of New York City’s premier acute care hospitals, renowned for its Centers of Excellence and leadership in medical technology. This position involves supervisory, administrative, and clinical activities within the Respiratory Therapy Department, with varying degrees of independent judgment in managing daily operations. The role includes performing respiratory therapy procedures as needed, under the medical and technical guidance of a licensed physician, with some autonomy for initiative and judgment.

Major Duties
  1. Identify quality assurance issues and ensure compliance with protocols and standards of care. Conduct in-service training related to respiratory therapy services.
  2. Participate in research activities related to respiratory care.
  3. Assist in product evaluations.
  4. Provide clinical supervision in designated specialty care areas.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Associate Degree program in Respiratory Therapy recognized by the New York State Board of Education or an equivalent program.
  • Current license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State.
  • Current registration as a Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Special Notes: Individuals practicing respiratory therapy in New York on or after January 1, 1994, who have applied for licensure under the grandparenting provisions and can provide documentation from the State Education Department, may continue practicing until December 31, 1994, or until notified otherwise. Maintaining the position requires ongoing licensure compliance as mandated by the New York State Education Department.
